download (8)IFSU Potia Campus Welcomes the AACCUP Accreditors

The Ifugao State University Potia Campus headed by its Campus Executive Director Dr. Nelson S. Latap, the University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Dinah Corazon M. Licyayo, the Quality Assurance Coordinator of the campus Mrs. Jocelyn T. Salviejo together with the IFSU Potia campus cultural dancers c/o Mr. Joebert B. Jacinto as the Socio-Cultural coordinator welcomed warmly the AACCUP accreditors for the three (3) day survey visit (August 29-31, 2018) for the four (4) programs of the campus: BS Criminology (2nd survey), BS Hotel and Restaurant Management (3rd survey), BS in information Technology (3rd survey) and Master in Public Administration (preliminary survey) during the opening program last August 29, 2018.

Dr. Latap delivered his welcome remarks stressing out that by accepting accreditation from a recognized accrediting agency such as AACCUP, our university agreed to uphold the quality standards set by them. He further said that as an academic community, we believe that accreditation will let us know our strengths and weaknesses, what areas to maintain and what aspects we need to improve through the accreditors generous and honest recommendations. We are then grateful that AACCUP sent seasoned and newly trained accreditors and in behalf of the 110 faculty and staff together with the 1,236 students of this campus, we welcome each and every one for the 3-day survey visit, he said.

Dr. Licyayo also stressed out in her message that at IFSU we embraced a long tradition for making improvements and that is manifested by opening our programs for evaluation, such as the AACCUP Accreditation. It is through accreditation that policies are in place and standards are followed. These are continuously being improved to make sure that the programs we offer at IDSU meets more than the minimum standards set by performing HEIs in the country. The policies and standards set as a result of our submission to accreditations might be too stringent, but our adherence to these bear witness to our deep commitment to making improvements, and the process of accreditation gives us the opportunity to show how deep our commitment is. It has also inspired us to review our quality assurance activities because we believe that accreditation is a kind of natural seal of approval on excellence, conferred by a group of noteworthy professionals – our honored AACCUP Accreditors.

In response to our submission to AACCUP accreditation for the four programs, Dr. Fe S. Soriano of Pangasinan State University, the overall AACCUP Coordinator said that their purpose of coming here as a team is to help us in our quest for excellence – by evaluating our programs in order for us to achieve our Vision “IFSU: a globally recognized center of excellence amidst cultural heritage”. Dr. Soriano said further that they will not concentrate with the documents alone, but they do triangulation by having series of activities which include observation of classes. And as part of the evaluation they will also need: PPP, compliance report for the last survey visit and the self-survey except for the preliminary visit. # GB Dumansi
